Bachelor Curriculum

About the study program:
A bachelor’s study program is run in English language and realized in the framework of a bilateral cross-border collaboration between the Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria) and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of South Bohemia. The program represents an alternative extension of the modern molecular, cellular and structural biology towards biochemistry, bio-organic chemistry and biophysics.

The first and second semester is the education realized at Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria). Students learn basics in chemical disciplines together with necessary mathematics and physics. The third and forth semesters are held Faculty of Sciences of the University of South Bohemia (Czech Republic). Here students concentrate on biological and molecular biology disciplines. The 5th semester spend at Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria) where they get more specialized theoretical and practical background of chemistry and physics. The sixth semester is focused on bachelor thesis's, which all students must fulfill and also some additional lectures at Faculty of Sciences of the University of South Bohemia (Czech Republic).

Semester 1:
Before the semester starts students, which were accepted to the University of South Bohemia, have to take a pre-courses in České Budějovice. These courses will prepare you for the practical work in the laboratory. You will learn the english vocabulary which is required in the laboratory and you will attend a week of intensive english course. Of course student who applied to the Johannes Kepler University can attend these courses and it is very recommended.

The semester it self starts on October 1st and it's held at Johannes Kepler University in Linz. During the semester students learn the basics of the inorganic and and analytical chemistry. The also get an education in mathematics, and english. To be able to attend the course Laboratory in General Chemistry, students must to qualify in the test.
